What I'm gleaning from smart ladies with life experience: Need vs Want.

The more honest you are with yourself

The more honest you are with others

The more years you acquire under your belt

The more you figure out that you can meet your own needs

And the more you learn that a joyful relationship arises from being with people whose company you desire.

It's the opposite of what you'd expect, in that a shift toward greater self-esteem and self-reliance translates into deeper, more meaningful relationships with others.

It's how I feel about my house and garden in a way. I need my house to shelter me from rain, store my food, and provide a safe place to sleep. My joy comes from being outside in the garden, among the flowers, butterflies and bees. Both are essential, but their functions are different and compliment each other beautifully.
